Windows operating systems allow any installed program or service to auto-start at system booting. While some applications, like security ones for example, need to work all the time, a lot of applications set themselves to be active at system start up, increasing the boot time and using system resources.
Security Autorun is an application for managing self-starting applications, drivers, DLLs, and Windows services. Because Windows systems don't have a native alerting system for this, using such applications is the only way to determine and manage what runs on computer at start up.
Security Autorun installs very easily and has a clean and well designed interface, very similar to the Windows registry. In the right upper side it displays all the registry keys that manage auto-running applications. In the left bar are eight categories of applications and system components, each linking to their location in the computer.
For each registry key associated with a system component or application that is displayed, there are three options available: delete, jump to ( the key location), or edit.
Extreme caution and a good knowledge of the Windows system is recommended for each change operated through Security Autorun. Deleting core systems keys or editing them incorrectly can lead to Windows malfunction, data loss, or system crashes.
Security Autorun works under all Microsoft Windows versions, from Windows 98 to Windows 7
